Maine
...is an ideal state for people who love to explore nature and
enjoy travelling away from crowds. With its many hills and mountains
the state is covered with huge wild forests and many lakes large
and small.
The Atlantic coast invites you to explore its rocky shores,
sandy beaches and salt marshes.
Lobster harvesting and fishing, timber industry and tourism
make up the local economy. |

Spring is short and intensive. May/June is
a time to see spectacular displays of blooming shrubs and wild flowers.
By June, summer temperatures predominate. Summer days for the most part
are very warm and sunny, nights pleasantly cool.
One of a few areas of the USA in which air conditioning
is not a "must". September/October marks brilliant leaf color
changes, especially that of sugar maples and draws many visitors to the
area. |
