During the summer season this little village, quiet except for the nearby sound of a cascading waterfall is an ideal starting point for those who want to hike and climb mountains.

The Jaun Valley is without mass tourism and industrial development, therefore offering unspoiled nature and a traditional mountain village in its natural surroundings.

The visitor can relax in clean, fresh air and enjoy many different kinds of Alpine flora and interesting mountain formations.

Leisure:
Lovers of classical music can enjoy performances in the Cantorama of Jaun, a small village church. Tennis courts and a swimming pool are within a short driving distance (about 10 km). Cozy local restaurants offer Gruyère region specialties such as cheese fondue, Fryburger Platte and brook trout.

Excursions:
Many interesting places in the area are well worth a visit. In the neighboring Gruyère region Bulle and Broc (chateau, cheese making facility with demonstrations, Cailler chocolate factory) should not be missed. Day trips to Gstaad, the mountainous area around the east end of Lake Geneva, Montreux, Vevey (about 40 km), Lausanne, Geneva, and the Lake Thun region are also recommended.

Winter:
Jaun is also an attractive destination during the cold season, especially for those who like a quiet, family oriented vacation. It is well served for all the usual winter sports and prices are very reasonable.

There is a ski school for downhill skiing and snowboarding, also 5 ski lifts, several well-groomed (mostly easy level) ski slopes, cross country ski trails (some lighted) and a toboggan run. Other winter sports options, some even year-round, are available at alpine ski resorts such as Jaunpass, Abländschen, Charmey, all within a 45-minute drive.

The holiday apartment:
Our rental property consists of a comfortable 3-room, 75 sq.m apartment for 2 to 6 persons located in our chalet ("Chalet Ilse") on a southern slope above Jaun.

From the detached, unobstructed chalet at about 1200 m above sea level a spectacular view towards the mountains, valley and waterfall opens up.
