The popular vacation spot Calpe between Valencia (120 km) and Alicante (60 km) is located at the edge of the foothills of the Sierra de Bernia.
Due to its geographical location Calpe connects to the southern towns of Alicante's Marina.

The town has a long beach of fine sand and some rocky sections; there are also some old salt flats that predominate the inland landscape.
Along the beach promenade remnants of an old Roman fish factory can be seen.

Things to see and do:
Calpe itself is a small ancient fishing village. Traces of Phoenician, Greek, Roman, and Arab cultures can still be detected.

Calpe has retained some of its originality. Attending one of the fish auctions in the harbor is a must!

Apart from the main beach Playa de Levante that stretches over 500 m there are several other smaller sand beaches and rocky coves, one of which is Playa del Puerto near Calpe's town center.

Activities:

• Tennis, horseback riding, scuba diving, fishing, wind surfing, waterskiing, paragliding, sailboat charter (Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca etc.), marina in la Canuta.
• Terramitica, an amusement and theme park between Altea and Benidorm with shows about the "Wild West" and the Mediterranean
