The Old Stone Cottage

A lovely restored old Turkish cottage (ca. 1895) surrounded by almond, olive and pomegranate trees with a magnificent view from its shaded terraces to the ancient Genoese fortress that is overlooking Karystos bay.

The cottage is a welcoming refuge for those who enjoy peace and quiet and appreciate the sights and sounds of rural Greece.

Ground floor

On the ground floor there is an entrance hallway with an array of spacious mirrored cupboards, leading to the internal staircase going upstairs. There is a well appointed kitchen with stove and oven, refrigerator, dishwasher and a full range of small appliances such as coffee machine, juicer, toaster, etc. The kitchen has a dining table which seats six to eight. Also on the ground floor with its own large shaded terrace is one of the two double bedrooms with private bathroom. The bathroom has a full shower, sink and toilet. The bedroom has a built in double bed, built in cupboards and a desk and chair.
The pergola terrace has lovely views on all sides and has a table and four comfortable lounging chairs.


 

First floor

On the first floor there is a cozy timber beamed living room with fireplace, built in couches, stereo and bookcase with double paned glass doors leading to the terrace. The pergola terrace has spectacular views of the valley, bay and fortress as well as the garden. There is a cast iron table seating four on the balcony ideal for morning coffee and watching the technicolor sunsets.
Off the living room there is a full bathroom with shower, toilet, sink and standard size washing machine. Next to the bathroom is the second comfortable double bedroom with spacious built in cupboards and separate access to the pergola terrace.		  
The cottage has central heating and plenty of hot water at all times.

Outside

There is a private parking place below the cottage. A well lit short stone staircase leads up through the garden to the entrance.

The cottage is on two floors with both internal and external staircases. There are two spacious shaded terraces; one on the second floor outside the living room and one on the ground floor outside one of the double bedrooms.

The cottage is surrounded by a charming cottage garden on three levels with a small pond with fountain (containing koi and goldfish).

There is a large grape arbor with full stone barbecue on the side of the cottage facing the pond with dining table and chairs for al fresco meals.
