| It is only a short walk down into the pictorial mountain village of Mirthios. Many of the old houses are carefully reconditioned to keep their special atmosphere. The situation is simply breathtaking beautiful. In the environment you will find wonderful beaches, tiny bays and steep ravines, old monasteries, wide olive groves with thousands of trees and many old villages - a fantastic environment, almost unique on Crete. The place is also a good starting point for many worthwhile walks in the closer surrounding. The village centre is only a 3 minutes walk away from Villa Stella. The main street runs underneath the village parallel to the sea. Narrow lanes are branching off, leading into the village centre and to the church. Most of these alleyways are not passable by car. Nearby Plakias offers a comprehensive supply. Because of the unique locality nearly in the centre of the island Villa Stella is the ideal starting point for daily trips into all directions.
Off course we give a hand to you upon renting a car (incl. airport service) at favourable rates. Because of the unique locality nearly in the centre of the island Villa Stella is the ideal starting point for daily trips into all directions and to the many objects of interest on Crete. E.g. the north coast with the beautiful seaport Rethymnon is only about 35 km away. The distance to Chania Airport is about 100 km, to Iraklio Airport nearly ca. 120 km. ‘Villa Stella, a spacious, for Cretan conditions almost luxurious location at the slope over the village ... Per apartment a completely equipped kitchen, a living room with sleep couch, a bedroom, a beautiful bath and a large terrace with fantastic view over the bays of Plakias and Damnoni. There are heaters and mosquito nets in the windows too’, the German travel journalist Eberhard Fohrer wrote in his travel guide 'Kreta' (Michael Mueller Publishing, 2005). |
