This cozy cottage in the midcoast region of Maine is located on a peninsula and has pond frontage and a view of the saltwater. Located in a quiet and scenic spot, the cottage is surrounded by several acres of grassy lawn, fields and woods a perfect location for a relaxing vacation away from the everyday hustle and bustle. It is within walking distance of a nature preserve with marked trails and access to the shore. Just 100 m from the house the pond empties into the saltwater of the Damariscotta Estuary. The home is situated on a small country road that winds along the estuary. You can go fishing or canoeing right behind the cottage.
A sandy beach (Pemaquid Beach), nature sanctuaries, fishing villages with lobster- and other restaurants are all within easy reach. The closest town is Damariscotta and provides all the essentials, has cultural offerings and much more. A 45-minute drive takes you to Freeport, home of LL Bean and numerous outlet stores.

With its many hills and mountains the state Maine is covered with huge wild forests and many lakes large and small. The Atlantic coast invites you to explore its rocky shores, sandy beaches and salt marshes.
Local attractions include:
Pemaquid Lighthouse (and others) and Fort William, a historic landmark. . Day cruises to go sailing, fishing or whale watching, or visiting nesting bird colonies on small islands. There are numerous local nature preserves, parks, and sanctuaries (such as Dodge Point and La Verna Preserve) for hiking and exploring nature. Kayak rentals are available to explore the waters. Nearby coastal towns of interest include Camden, Rockland, and Bath. The Botanical Garden and Maine Aquarium are on the next peninsula of Boothbay. Beautiful views of the ocean can be enjoyed from the top of Camden Hills. There are everal museums (Farnsworth, Maine Maritime, Bowdoin College to name a few).
Sept./Oct marks brilliant leaf color changes, especially that of sugar maples.
