It only takes about 10 to 15 minutes on the Mombasa ferry, over the Kilindini Bay " Bay of deep waters", to the mainland of the southern coast.
This vacation paradise has been touristly developed on a length of about 70 km and its along here, about 30 km from mombasa, you`ll find Diani Beach. Being categorized as one of the most beautiful and safest beaches in the world, it is also popularly known as " Africas` own Switzerland ". It has all the characteristics of a dream beach: spotless white sands, palm lined isolated bays, turquoise colored high tides, luxurious hotels and villas, exotic plants and waters never under 21°C.

The coral-reef is off coast and actsas a natural barrier which breaks the ocean waves. It also keeps sharks away, which means an absolutely safe and clean beach, a doorstep away and a guarantee of clear bathe, fun and pleasure.

Dhows sailing off the coast to Zanzibar, meet the raw, undried wood-shell tack boats and the island in the sun turns to an admiration, as the oceans moves back in rythm tides, an eldorado for divers. Large galleries of hanging and s waying palm groves, gnarling baobab trees, line this tropical illustrated broadsheet in which life as the saying goes in Kenya " pole pole " which means as slow as possible. These conditions are just ideal to take off the tormented outfit of civilization stress.

There are still fishermen who not only go out for a catch, but also ferry tourists to the reef. Later in the afternoon, you will catch them under the baobab trees mending their nets.

The baobab trees, or monkey-bread trees, are large gnarled trees with stems identical to large calabashes about 15 m thick, are hundreds and hundreds of years old and are a charasteristic view with white-bearded colobus monkeys and noisy swarms of hornbills doing some gymnastic stunts on the strong branches. The trees are sacred to the natives as they believe that the dead spirits live on in the trees and their surroundings. Diani is also the last of once extensive coastal woods, the Jadini forest, in which the colobus monkeys and other wild animals live in. The single variety of Flora and fauna, with its untampered nature and the Shimba hills backround which houses almost all African wildlife (only 30 km aviation line) makes this little piece of earth to a paradise.

The architects have successfully done their best to avoid the stronghold of high-rise blocks of european vacation. The hotels and villas are embedded with plants adapted to the landscape and the Bougain-villeen mostly orange, red and white, flourish in the tropical garden paradises with old Baobab trees. The architectural style is african borrowed, round huts with airy makutti rooftops (dried palm leaves) and the european comfort leaves nothing aside with safes, swimmingpools, showers, baths etc.
The infrastracture is extraordinary because despite of you being in deep africa, you will find fine restaurants, shoppingcentres, banks, car and bike rentals, gas stations, safari booking offices, an airstrip and for those active at night, discos and night clubs (away from hear and visibility of villas). High salt water fishing, golf, horse riding and the main Diani Hospital with German standard medical care at hand.
For information: The Diani Beach stretch is about 8 km long and all what you need is along this road, meaning its very easy to find your way around.
